Grapes are a feature fruit in Tokyo, from the inner-city to the outer suburbs. The leafy vines provide much needed shade (like a living sudare (簾:すだれ)) and the fruit is plentiful and perfect for the humid Tokyo summers.
This garden and grapevine occupies the entire frontage of a Nakano-ku apartment building. The preparation for climbers (netting) will provide functions of privacy and shade throughout summer.
Location: Nakano, Tokyo
