This nature watching map in Showa Kinen Koen (昭和記念公園) – a large national government run park in Western Tokyo – is ‘timetablized’ through the flexible use of laminated labels, paper, and tape. On top of a standardized map of the park depicting the best spots to view various flora and fauna labels signal to park visitors whether the spots are ‘at their best’, ‘just past their best’ or ‘finished’. The use of a large white piece of paper for those spots that are finished presumably reduces confusion and helps prevent disappointment (by hiding those attractions which are no longer available).
