A closer look at this official map in Showa Kinen Koen (昭和記念公園) – a large national government run park in Western Tokyo – reveals a number of hand drawn modifications detailing recommended exit routes for visitors to the ‘Kodomo no Mori’ (Children’s Forest) section of the park. Apparently, as this area is near the center of the park and far from the car parking area visitors often run into trouble leaving the park on time, and getting stuck in the exit rush. The Children’s Forest attendants have made these modifications to help visitors, and as an aid to their own explanations.
